An architect’s own house, the family required additional living space and modernisation of some existing rooms.
The lounge area was extended with a new floor to ceiling frameless glazed front to take advantage of great views over the surrounding countryside. A new side door gives easy access on to a new elevated timber deck at the same level as the existing floor. A cedar and galvanised steel pergola runs across the front of the house and unites the new structure with the old.
Bright colours are used internally with stone and oak floors and simple plaster ceilings. The new space is heated by under–floor heating and a fee–standing wood–burning stove.
