The first social housing in the Island of Ireland designed and built to certified ‘Passivhaus’ standard.
The design produces a virtually airtight building with the effect of maintaining comfortable living conditions with virtually no traditional heating or cooling systems required.
The terrace of five two–storey dwellings on a small 2500sqm site, also achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Standard Level 4, Secure by Design certification and compliance with Lifetime Homes along with Oaklee Housing Associations own design standard.
This distinctive development has created a high level of positive awareness regarding future sustainable homes and as a result has been awarded funding from the Technology Strategy Board to monitor results and performance over the next two years.
This exceptional pioneering project is an excellent example of how buildings should be designed and built for the future.
