Overview Project Details

This project was the one of the first PFI projects in Northern Ireland. Kennedy FitzGerald led the Design Team and worked directly with Farrans Construction to deliver this complex building on the existing Altnagelvin Hospital site ahead of programme.

The centre provides 7000m2 of facilities for the Hospital’s Pathology and Pharmacy Services departments. Accommodation is arranged over four storeys and around a central landscaped courtyard.

Pharmacy Services include an automated dispensing robotics system and six specialist clean rooms. Pathology contains four specially constructed and ventilated Category 3 containment suites. The delivery of a secure hygienic environment required specialist detailing and rigorous testing throughout design and construction.

Contemporary and robust finishes, materials and detailing help the building achieve an exceptional air tightness rating – a requirement for both thermal and clinical performance.
