The main building on Bligh`s lane incorporates adaptable creative space to support the secondary level college`s special status in the performing arts. Designed for 825 pupils, the building is constructed on a north–south axis with principal teaching spaces housed in a two–storey west facing wing and three–storey east facing wing, whose expansive convex façade offers excellent panoramic views to the historic walled city and Lough of the Foyle.
Both wings provide shelter against strong prevailing winds to a pastoral garden and inner courtyards which may be utilised for outdoor performance space and meeting spaces in the heart of the building.
The cross–section through the college exploits the steep slope, stepping down from dining and performing arts facilities around a large foyer, to an outer playground, resource areas and netball courts. These facilities are supplemented by sports and athletic facilities on nearby Fanad Drive.
