Scoil Chormaic Community National School is a 24 class Primary School, with a central courtyard bringing light in to the plan. The school includes a General Purpose Hall, 24 classes, and a 2 classroom Special Needs Unit. Play area is provided in the courtyard, to the south of the site and ballcourts to the west. All the classrooms and corridors are arranged to obtain maximum natural light, and a considered use of colour internally, gives a unique energy to the primary school.
Externally, the school employs a simple material palette, of mainly render with the General Purpose Hall and the single storey Special Needs unit being picked out in a buff brick. The strip windows are enlivened by brightly coloured trespa cladding panel. The building is entered through a generous double storey height lobby, which is overlooked by the staff room with direct links to the GP Hall, General Office, and the Principal’s Office. The Library on the first floor has tall curtain walling corner window, with a generous view across the ocean.
