In 2010 Kennedy FitzGerald were one of only three practices, out of 93 entries, invited to enter the second stage of an International RIAI Design Competition.
Our proposal was a simple building form with efficient circulation, which respected the existing built forms, views and public right of way on site.
The architectural concept arranges the accommodation around a central internal street. The block to the south of the internal street contains the fitness suite, multi–purpose studio, changing rooms and ancillary spaces and is perceived as a pavilion building within the landscape.
To the north of the internal street is the sports hall which is set to the same orientation as the main school, whilst the pavilion block is set to the orientation of a public right of way with the positioning maximising the views across the school sports fields and coastal landscape beyond.
