Kennedy FitzGerald Architects where appointed by Queen’s University Belfast at the start of 2009 to look at a full, comprehensive refurbishment of the Ashby Tower which houses several engineering disciplines.
The building is a dominant landmark on the Stranmillis Road, bold and modern in its time, designed by Cruickshank and Seward 1960–65.
It is one of the best examples in Northern Ireland of a building designed in a Modernist and International style.
